\nThis week we were focused on getting our journal entries finished before the gradings. Because we were so bus during the past few weeks we didn't have time write any journal entries so we have been focused on finishing them up. We were also focused on working on designing the recycling boxes for the upcoming locker clean out day. We worked on it with Haider and Nadeem and organized what school utensils would in which box.
\n
\nTo get closer to our goal we spent all of our class time in the lab trying to get as much done as we could. We also teamed up with Haider and Nadeem to get the most organizing, packaging, and designing as possible. But other than that we did not do anything much more.
\n
\nWe did not face many challenges but the ones we did face was only trying to get our journal entries finished in a limited amount of time. We did not really overcome this challenge because we were constantly rushing and our journal entries were not as thorough as they would be if we had a lot of time. Another challenge we faced was the amount of boxes for locker clean out day. \nI accomplished starting the "Zoo" report for the end of the year. Also, I accomplished collecting some more supplies because I am planning to make more toys for the chimps and even for the elephant and bear! Also, Ms.Rumford told us about the locker cleanup that's in a few weeks and needed some help, I think I would like to help with that!

\nList and explain what you did to get closer to your goal?
\nI have gotten closer to my goal by (as I keep saying) finishing the report report report! Our project is one of those that is to be continued by another group. :)
\nI have also gotten closer to my goal by trying to re-contact some of my past zoo contacts that were willing to help me and giving me advice. Last but not least, I have been researching and printing out some new information for toys and leisure activities for the elephant! Some ideas they gave me were giving the elephants old tires and tree bark, Ms.Rumford said that we could easily get old tires anywhere in Doha, so that's a good thing.

\nWhat challenges did you have? How did you overcome them?
\nChallenges I have had is how my contacts aren't emailing me back. This is a problem because I haven't been able to get any new and different ideas from other animal helping\/loving people around the world. I have not been able to overcome this problem yet, hopefully I hear from them by at least the end of the year. \nWe shredded even more paper for bedding!!! Another class of Ms. Rumford's has kindly donated a few more bags of paper for us. I also recycled this week in the high school wing. Everything was quite full! All the teachers appreciated our recylcling pick-up, and a few even thanked us for doing it all year long (ALL the students)! I began work on my end-of-year report, too, with a member.

\nAs I said, we collected more shredded paper and Ms Rumford will give it to the non-ASD Ms. Wilson this week. Also, our report is coming along well. We hope to finish it by this week's end. We'll send it ASAP!

\nSince it is the end of the year, it is getting a little frustrating because of end of year stress and the fact that we cannot do anything drastic for the zoo right now. \nThis week I accomplished shredding even MORE paper! There is a big pile in Ms.Rumfords room that is waiting to be moved to the zoo! Also, I recycled for half of the High school, because the other half didn't need recycling. My group and I are starting to write our report and end our project so the group next year can continue it and find out new ideas to help the zoo and it's animals.

\nWe got closer to our goal by delivering more toys for the chimps at the zoo (cardboard and seeds) We also got closer to our goal, as I said before, getting our project ready to be started for the new year. My group and I also discussed our project this year and things we could've done, so even we can continue this project outside of the Roots and Shoots class.

\nI shredded a lot of paper this week to use for toys and 'bedding', mostly for monkeys and chimps. The toys are shredded paper and seeds piled inside an empty toilet paper roll. We got the idea from Ms Rumford's chimpanzee toy guide. I was not able to accompany my team member to Ms Wilson (a fellow zoo helper) to donate these toys, as I was swimming in a tournament! I hope the toys have made a difference.

\nAs I previously typed, I shredded a lot of paper, which will go to the chimpanzees or monkeys as bedding and toys. Our group decided that we want somebody to continue our project next year. We must keep the animals happy!!!

\nWell, I wasn't able to visit Ms Wilson to receive the information about the work already done by her class for the zoo because I was swimming for QUESS. Also, I couldn't go to a member's house to make monkey toys as we had planned. \nI accomplished having a small meeting with Ms.Wilson about the zoo and what her 3rd grade class is also doing to help! She showed us the video on youtube of how the animals are coping with the new toys and such. It was AMAZING how tremendously the animals attention spans have changed. Also, I accomplished giving my toys (toilet paper rolls filled with seeds, nuts, and shredded paper) to Ms.Wilson to take to the zoo while she was there. Hopefully it will make a big help! My last accomplishment was shredding more and more paper for the chimpanzee cages, and recycling.

\nI got closer to my goal by collecting toilet paper rolls for my toys, collecting tons of recycled paper from around the school and putting it in huge bags to be sent to the zoo, and made our schedule for the steps we are going to take for these last weeks of school. My group and I talked about our project and we think that it would be wonderful if a group next year could continue this zoo project. Let's save the animals! :)

\nChallenges I have faced is trying to finish all of the zoo toys and schedule a date to actually GO to the zoo and interact\/give the toys to these animals. Hopefully we can do this by the end of the year!!! \n (Two days before movie night)

\nThis week we were planning to host a movie night when Mr. Lever informed us that there was already a group of two doing the same thing. We were anxious to know who they were so that we could maybe join there group and work on it together. Maddy, and Vanessa were the two girls that were doing it and they had proposed to show Batman The Dark knight. So they gladly said yes for Nadeem and I joining there group and got set to work. We got room reservations, movie selections, as well as notifying the middle school as to what is going on. We also accomplished the fact of all our information put down on flyers which inlcuded date, time, what movie and the purpose of the movie. (Where the money was going to)
\n
\nTo get closer to our goal we had decided to join the group of Vanessa and Matty so that our cause and effect could be stronger and more obvious. We also watched movie trailers as to see which movie would be most appropriate to present to U14 aged kids. We also pre-ordered all of our food as to make sure something bad happened and it would not show up in time. We also had meetings with Mr. Leever and Mr. Johnston and they informed us that Batman the Dark night had recieved many complaints from parents and they told us it was better change it than get in a bigger mess. We eventually, though not happily, came to a concensus so we eventually chose the movie: Madagascar 2. Though many people have grown out of Disney cartoon movies we really had to go with Madagascar 2.
\n
\nWe had many challenges. One was that it was extremely hard to get in touch with Vanessa and Maddy because when we had Roots and shoots they were having band and we were not allowed to interrupt them while in that class. We could only get in touch between clases and even then we only saw them 2 or 3 times before the day of the movie night. Another challenge we faced was the movie selection. We were originally going to show Batman but Mr. Leever had received emails saying that it was inapropriete and was to "dark" a movie. We felt very angry at that for it could have meant that we could lose most of our customers but not for sure. It could have also meant that we may not have been prepared for the upcoming day. So we will have to wait for the movie night day to see the number of people who would show up. (Those people who like Madagascar 2)

\n1: This week, we prepared for our movie night. We are going to show Madagascar 2. We decided to do this because there hasn't been a movie night for the middle school, there all in the elementary. We found from Mr.Leever that Vanessa and Maddie were also doing the exact same project as James and I. So, we decided to work together! We meet with eachother a few time, and split the jobs between the four of us.
\n
\n2: To get closer to our goal, as I said before, worked with Vanessa and Maddie. We also had a few meetings with Mr. Leever and Mr. Johnston and they gave us a few ideas on how to make our movie night better. They also said that we had to change our movie from Batman The Dark Night to Madagascar 2 because they thought it was to scary.

\nThese past few weeks I have not have time to write down journal entries. We have been extra busy in organizing assembly dates and in getting our movie night completed. The fist week we presented the trophies to the winners of the soccer tournament and informed the school about our project, goals, and accomplishments. The movie eventually chosen was Madagascar 2. We planned very well, our goals we stated, information well but in the end we ended losing money. We ordedred to much food and not enough people came, maybe because of the movie and maybe because of the notice, but whichever way we ended losing 240QR.
\n
\nTo get closer to my goal we arranged meetings with Mr.Leever, Mr. Jphnston, and Mr. Andrews. They each gave us much to say and helped us aim closer to our goal. We also ordered food in advance and we were prepared 1 week ahead to make sure nothing went wrong.
\n
\nWe had many challenges but did not necesarily overcome them. We did not get the word out that we were having a movie night so many people did not know it was going on. Another reason was that we were originally going to show Batman The Dark Knight, but parents complained about the rating and we had to change it to Madagascar 2. And most Middle School has eventually grown out of PG animatted movies. But nevertheless, we can always build on our mistakes and go for better informing, better movie and better planing. \nI accomplished establishing contacts with a lady named Debbie. She really wants to help us and she told me that she would be glad to contact sanctuaries all around Europe and the United States. Debbie has not replied in a few days, but I am planning to send her some pictures of the zoo, so she REALLY knows what's going on. Also, I have accomplished recycling in the High School area. I recycled for another group because 2 of the their members weren't able to attend. One more thing that I accomplished this week is helping many other groups advertise for their events, like movie nights, games, etc.

\nI got closer to my goal by making new contacts that seem to want to help us a bunch! I emailed more and more and more people, even a second time because I didn't get a reply from them for awhile. (To make my voice heard!) Ms.Rumford has also emailed her friend in Doha who has also been trying to help the zoo (specifically the chimp). Hopefully we can possibly work together with her! :)

\nWhat challenges did you face? How did you overcome them?

\nChallenges I faced were not receiving emails back from organizations, zoos, or sanctuaries I tried to contact. I overcame these challenges by re-emailing them back, again and again and again. The problem right NOW is that they're still not getting my email and\/or replying. Questions I have frequently asked myself is "What to do now? Will we still get enough help?"
